The Department of Modern Languages at The College of New Jersey invites applications for a part-time/full-time one-year position in Arabic renewable for up to three years at the level of instructor or assistant professor. Position will begin in fall 2001. Responsibilities include first and second year Arabic, and possibly a course in Arab culture taught in English. The Arabic program is part of an interdisciplinary initiative in International Studies.
The ideal candidate will have experience and a strong commitment to teaching Arabic, the ability to teach Arab culture in English, and an interest in planning Arab culture activities outside the classroom such as Arabic table and movies. The candidate should be familiar with communicative, proficiency-based, and immersion methods of foreign language teaching.
Applicants must have Ph.D. or be A.B.D. as of summer 2001, a strong commitment to undergraduate education and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
